Friday Bitch & Brag*
January 9, 2026 - The Dog Days Edition: waking up, helping out, and dog visits
Paid subscribers get access to The Corinne Channel: a roundup of what I’ve been consuming over the past week, from eats & drinks to media. It’s included at the end of each Friday Bitch and Brag.

I made it through the first week back to school and I didn’t completely lose my mind. However, I took my sweet time finishing up this week’s B&B. Let’s circle up!
Bitch: It has been really difficult to get out of bed in the mornings, even with me going to bed at a decent time. Winter is definitely for hibernation.
Brag: On Tuesday, Fidos for Freedom came to Wagstaff. This DC-area nonprofit provides service and therapy dogs to people with disabilities, and they also have a program where school children can visit with dogs. That day I was helping in the front office so I got to meet Hoot, Trista, and Sophie when they arrived. I hadn’t seen so many smiles among the staff and students since the last day of school before winter break.

Bitch: I ordered some stylist-recommended Evo Fabuloso purple shampoo on the online behemoth, but didn’t pay attention to the size…and I wound up with a travel size bottle. Argh!
Brag: I practiced some self-control with my eating habits, choosing more fruit than sweets and refraining from a lot of staff lounge indulgences. I hope to continue this trend.
Related Bonus Item: The Wagstaff staff lounge is where everyone drops off goodies to share, and this week the center table goodies were a metaphor for our collective experience of dealing with students. On Monday there were multiple homemade pies of mysterious provenance (I later learned Ms. Howard had brought them in because “I had too many sweets at home), on Wednesday there was a large bag of kale, and on Friday there was leftover holiday candy.

Bitch: This week Tanya had to deal with car troubles and the process of getting a new car, which has been super frustrating for her…
Brag: …and I’ve had Pops’ car for a few days so I was able to give her rides. Being able to vent in the car about all of our issues at Wagstaff, plus more personal matters, makes it easier to get through the day.
This week on The Corinne Channel: a BONUS bitch & brag, dirt water, award-winning books by an author I love, French dramas, and more!
