Friday Bitch & Brag
January 16, 2026 - The Forbidden Numbers Edition: new pens, cookies, and wacky kids
Paid subscribers get access to The Corinne Channel: a roundup of what I’ve been consuming over the past week, from eats & drinks to media. It’s included at the end of each Friday Bitch and Brag.

I am so very ready for a three-day weekend. Let’s circle up!
Bitch: I started off my Monday by spilling applesauce all over the kitchen counter, all because I didn’t want to get out a spoon to put some in a bowl. Pouring directly from the jar into the small bowl was not a wise decision. Lesson learned. Maybe.
Brag: Later that morning I covered sixth grade ELA classes and one student came in with homemade chocolate chip cookies for her teachers. She offered me one, asking “With or without orange zest?” Um, orange zest every time, please!

Bitch: Why hasn’t our school system’s IT department blocked any Google AI access? These kids still use the AI response that pops up at the beginning of any Google search and don’t bother to check for better resources.
Brag: I have a new favorite sixth grade student at Wagstaff, all because he told me, “I do not like hearing kids say the forbidden numbers. I think it’s stupid.”
Related Bonus Item: This same student informed me that he “really doesn’t like people.” I feel you, kiddo. I really do.

Bitch: Most of this week I’ve been attempting to fix issues with one of my email accounts, as Outlook stopped syncing the account. I have a feeling it has to do with my email provider and not necessarily Microsoft, but we shall see.
Brag: My pen pal recommended the retractable Jinhao 10 fountain pen, an inexpensive Chinese knockoff of a popular Japanese pen, so I ordered one off of Etsy to try out. The pen arrived yesterday and I love it!

This week on The Corinne Channel: a BONUS bitch & brag, classic novels set in Africa, breaking up with hate-watching, and more!
