Last week I was way too grumpy to think of anything to brag about, so I decided to wait until this week to offer a double header. Grab your favorite beverage and a snack and gather ‘round!
Bitch: Yet another snow day at school last week. I am so damn tired of snow and sleet and freezing rain. Wagstaff has had six snow days so far and the running joke is that we won’t get a summer break until July 30. No one is laughing at this joke.
Brag: Last Thursday afternoon, I put valentines in all the mailboxes for staff & administrators. On Friday, I handed out valentines to random kids. I saw several people smile and laugh at their little valentines. Another fun year for Random Acts of Valentines!

Bitch: The gently used Fossil smartwatch that Aunt Leigh gave me back in October died a couple days ago and I can’t revive it. I had gotten so used to wearing it at school for alarms and other notifications. Wish me luck as I will keep trying to resuscitate the watch over the weekend—I don’t want to buy another one.
Brag: I used a birthday gift card to purchase embroidery thread and stabilizer so I can finally try out the embroidery feature on my Brother sewing machine. The plan was to spend my long weekend playing around with it, but…

Bitch: …last Saturday morning I felt sick, and by Monday I knew I had a sinus infection. This makes two sinus infections since the start of the new year, no thanks to working around a bunch of germy tweens and teens.
Brag: I had enough sick leave to cover the two days I took off this week. Whew.
Bitch: The hits just keep coming with the Danger Yam and Apartheid Clyde.
Brag: I’m doing what I can to focus on building community and show others I care about their well-being. Some days that looks like having conversations to check in, other days it looks like sharing snacks, treats, or jokes. Survival is a shared burden, as Dayna Lynn Nuckolls says, and I want all of us to survive this kakistocracy.
