Let’s circle up, kids!
Bitch: I’m scratching my head to understand how elected officials claim to support families & want the best for kids, and yet refuse to enact legislation to restrict access to guns, which are now the most common cause of death for children in the USA.
Brag: Pops learned how to work in Excel with my help. He needed to get information to a client but was struggling with formatting the data in an email, so I created a spreadsheet for him, then walked him through how to use it. There wasn’t any screaming or crying or yelling, though he did curse often. He was super grateful & paid me more than triple my current rates, which I didn’t expect at all.
Bitch: Today I discovered that a Spotify playlist with 80s music had been seeded with songs by a current band I’d never heard of. The Spotify account that set up the playlist was very crafty about it, and when I looked up the band, I saw they are inspired by 80s music. That’s all fine and good, junior mint, but you are NOT a band or musician that had hits from 1980-1989. I won’t link to the list here because then the bots win.
Weekly thread to share YOUR bitch and brag coming at 3:30 pm EDT today, March 31! Free and paid subscribers are invited to participate - you’ll get an email when the thread goes live.
Brag: On Sunday night I had a good conversation with Wyatt* about many topics, from reminiscing about our friend who died last week to current events, music, and family. Getting him on the phone is a rarity and to have a long chat is a treat.
Bitch: I love my cats, I do, but they need jobs that do not involve biting on plastic anything, jumping on the printer when it’s working, or scratching up my bedsheets.
Brag: Reading this post by Jami Attenberg on writing and distractions made me feel so seen and understood. I could quote whole sections of this essay, it’s so relevant for me at this moment in time. Instead I’ll give you the link and recommend you read it, share it, bookmark it.
