Mercury went direct yesterday but the world is still plenty full of moments that require bitching and bragging. Gather round, kids!
Bitch: It took me way too long to accept that my local Domino’s Pizza is crap, but I finally have and that means I’m breaking up with Domino’s for the indefinite future. Maybe some of you will roll your eyes at this, and I do prefer local indie pizzerias, but Domino’s is easy to order via their phone app, relatively predictable, and a family member has worked for their corporate office for many years & a personal connection does tend to motivate me toward brand loyalty. But the franchise closest to me has had repeated issues with either substandard quality of food or giving me the wrong dipping sauce (yes, that is IMPORTANT, especially when you’re expecting mango habanero sauce and instead get sweet icing, which I will NOT be using with my chicken nuggets). This particular franchise near me seems more committed to speed of service than actually slowing down to make and deliver a better quality product. Back to indie pizzerias for me.
Brag: After nearly six months of futzing around, I finally caught up on old correspondence—so very on brand for Mercury retrograde. We shall see if I have in fact gotten back in the groove of letter writing. I’m sure my pen pals hope so.
Bonus Item: I finally got to see Max and Boots this week over at Pops’ house. Both cats were very sweet and affectionate with me, but their feelings about each other…well, let’s just say there are congressional hearings that are less fraught.
Bitch: On two different days this week, I struggled to insert my contact lenses for unknown reasons. Then once I got them inserted, I dealt with itchy dry eyes because of the stupidly high pollen count. Even the Systane drops I use prior to lens insertion didn’t help much at all. The discomfort is a big reason why I rarely wear contacts anymore.
Brag: A local shop I like, Jules & Kate in Savage Mill, is carrying several Busy Birdies Studio products on consignment! This all came about over the course of the last 24 hours, thanks to an impromptu visit on Thursday afternoon and a chat with the shop owner. Here’s hoping the weekend crowds will buy up my products by Mother’s Day weekend.

Bitch: The response by universities and colleges across the USA to student protests, as well as Mike Johnson’s response regarding use of the National Guard, disgusts and upsets me. Even my alma mater has threatened students with arrest, and restricted access to a key part of the campus. I am too frustrated by all this bullshit to write anything coherent.
Brag: The sun is shining. There are still good people in the world, doing the best they can with the tools they have available. Sometimes remembering the moments of goodness and kindness are enough. But sometimes an extended break from the media is needed, and I will do that as much as possible over the weekend.
This week on The Corinne Channel: plot twists in a novel, feeling meh about new releases, and more!
