We’re kicking off a long weekend and the unofficial start of summer. Who’s ready for heat waves, summer thunderstorms, blockbuster movies, and farmers markets galore? Me too! Let’s circle up!
Bitch: We’ve been using Dawn Platinum Foam for any handwashing in the kitchen and I couldn’t find the refills online or in stores…
Brag: …so I decided to buy the Dawn Platinum dishwashing soap and try the DIY foaming soap trick again. I used 1/4 cup Dawn to 1 cup water in the dispenser and it works great! I wrote the ratio on the dispenser in Sharpie so I won’t forget it.
Bonus Item: I finally did a closet sort/reorganization and while I only set aside one item for donation, I feel a lot better about the state of my closet.

Bitch: Discover, as in the credit card company, is THE WORST. Over the last several months I’ve been working with a debt relief company & Discover was being absolute assholes about negotiating a settlement, to the point that they filed a lawsuit against me this past week. I talked to the debt relief company about the suit, and a day later they tell me Discover came back with an offer, but they might as well have continued to say “no deal” because it wasn’t even 10% less than the amount owed. Anyone reading this who’s considering a credit card or banking with Discover, DON’T DO IT.
Brag: The honeysuckle is in bloom and the smell, not to mention the pleasure of plucking blossoms and sucking out the nectar (even if it’s only a small amount), is one of my absolute favorite things about this time of year.

Bitch: This year has been a massive struggle for me with work and finances, as I try to find more contract work or other gigs to make up for the income I’ve lost since January. A neighbor told me about the positive experiences she had working as a substitute teacher, and in early April I applied…
Brag: …and though it took nearly two months, I am now on the roster in my county’s public school system as a substitute teacher. No idea when I will get an assignment, as I still have a bunch of forms to complete. I will probably feel differently about the opportunity once I actually work as a sub, but for now it all feels anticlimactic.
