Exclusive for paid subscribers: the Corinne Channel is a roundup of what I’ve been reading, watching, and listening to over the past week. This list will be included at the end of each Friday Bitch and Brag.

Somehow we muddled through the first half of the year—go us! Let’s circle up!
Bitch: On Wednesday morning I did a Fitness with PJ leg workout, which included get-ups (come to standing from a kneeling position on the floor, then return to kneeling). My quads have been super sore since then, particularly the left one, as I’m much better at getting up on my left leg than my right. I sincerely hope the benefits of doing get-ups and squats now pay off in 30 years.
Brag: After several months of compiling a care package to send to my long-time pen pal in New Zealand, I finally got the box mailed on Monday. As a very cool bonus, USPS has tracking on the package, so I can see where it is and how long it will take to reach her. Currently it’s in San Francisco, where I wouldn’t mind going myself.
Rooney Update
Rooney has epilepsy & periodontitis, plus a heart murmur. Today he started on medication for epilepsy, and he’ll need a dental cleaning to resolve his gum disease. I spoke to the vet a few minutes before sending this week’s B&B, and Rooney’s bloodwork is normal—but he may have inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) based on his puking habits. He’ll start on a short course of steroids tomorrow to see if that stops Pukeapalooza, and if so, we’ll move on to a different medication.
I am so very grateful to everyone who has donated—Rooney’s vet visit on Thursday couldn’t have happened without the donations of several readers, as well as friends and family.
We will still need help covering the dental cleaning, plus his followup visit in August and any additional treatment. I’ve set up GoFundMe and PayPal campaigns to raise funds for Rooney’s care, and I appreciate any donations, shares on social media, and the like.
Bitch: On Wednesday, I posted a link to this week’s column on Facebook—only to have Facebook remove the post, saying it was misleading. I’m sure it wasn’t a coincidence that the post was about Meta (FB’s parent company) and their desire to use customer data to train AI. Nope, not at all a coincidence.
Brag: On Sunday, I got fresh basil at the Greenbelt Farmers Market and made a delicious pesto, which I am still eating. Thinking next time I should try the ice cube tray trick, where you portion out the pesto, put the tray in the freezer, and pop out a little pesto cube when you want some.

Bitch: Pretty sure I was overcharged at 7-11 on Monday for two items. The Smartfood white cheddar popcorn showed a price of $2.69 on the bag, and large Big Gulps are about $2.09, and with Maryland sales tax at 6% *opens calculator app* I should have paid $5.07, right? But I was charged $5.58. Is there a surcharge for therapy fountain Coke and snacks now? It’s a small thing, yes, and it’s still bitch-worthy.
Brag: I am doing my best to focus on what’s around me, and not get caught up in the drama & chaos swirling around thanks to the Thursday night debate (which I refused to watch) and recent SCOTUS decisions. It is really hard today. But on my morning walk, I had a pleasant chat with a woman who had a beautiful garden, and another chat with a woman with gorgeous ginger hair and a vibrant royal blue dress. I smiled and nodded to other neighbors as I passed them packing cars for weekend getaways. I did my best to be here now, and that will have to be enough.
This week on The Corinne Channel: two different docuseries, a novel set in San Francisco, a movie based on a stage musical based on a movie, and more!
