New exclusive for paid subscribers: the Corinne Channel is a roundup of what I’ve been reading, watching, and listening to over the past week—this list will be included at the end of each Friday Bitch and Brag.
In case you missed an older Friday Bitch & Brag, you can check out the index here.
Let’s circle up, kids!
Bitch: Have you ever lost something for a couple months, looked for it everywhere you could think of, at last found the item in a very logical location, yet you cannot remember what possessed you to put it there? Yeah. That was me with a brown hairclip I often use. I finally had reason to look in a storage box that holds extra hair ties & other personal care items, and the hair clip was in there. All this time I was blaming the cats for absconding with it.
Brag: Last weekend Pops, Mari and I went to the Greenbelt Farmers Market. We got coffee, breakfast treats (pain au chocolat for me, veggie breakfast burrito for Pops, strawberry banana crepe for Mari), fruit, veggies, bread. Pops and I really enjoyed it, but Mari thought there should have been more vendors.
Bitch: I washed the three pillows I’d made for use in the cat beds—the suitcase bed and a basket that Rooney loves—and one of them ripped open in the wash, spilling fiberfill everywhere. I scavenged all that I found in the machine and cursed at the weak seams…
Brag: …but used my serger to repair the damage and added extra fiberfill I had tucked away in a storage box of sewing stuff. While I had the serger out, I repaired a couple pillowcases I’d set aside, plus hemmed up a pair of knit lounge pants I’ve had for a couple years. My serging skills are improving, too!
Bitch: I like watching the occasional Facebook/Instagram Reel, and TikTok videos are fun sometimes, too. But for the love of Emile Berliner, why can’t I mute the damn music these creators insist on using in the background? I don’t want to hear some stupid song, I want to hear about your project! (If it is possible to mute or turn off the music, let me know. I haven’t found a workaround yet.)
Brag: We found sour cherries at the Greenbelt Farmers Market and I bought a quart to use for cherry pie. I actually don’t like cooked cherries, but my housemate and Pops love sour cherry pie, and I wanted a new baking challenge. It turned out great: both of them loved the pie, saying it was the right balance of tart and sweet. Next up will be a mixed berry pie once raspberries and blackberries are in season.
Many, many thanks to the folks who sent items from my wish list! The cats and I appreciate your generosity so much.
I’m currently taking on short-term and long-term clients for website review and content writing, if you or someone you know is looking for help with a project. I also appreciate any leads on remote jobs in member services or customer relations.
