Bitch: The recent SCOTUS decisions, combined with state-level legislation, go to show that the government has zero interest in the rights of the tired, poor, and huddled masses. Are you LGBTQIA+? Black, Latinx, Asian, indigenous? Swamped by student loan debt? A woman? They hate you.

Brag: Over the last few weeks I’ve been dealing with itchy skin and I’m not sure what’s causing it—there doesn’t seem to be a pattern to where I feel itchy, and I didn’t change laundry detergent or skincare products. While at the Greenbelt Farmers Market, Mari* and I visited the Mystic Water Soap stand and she bought me a bar of Gentle Oatmeal soap, as the maker recommended it for itchy skin. The soap smells amazing—lavender, rose, and tea tree oil—and my skin is doing much better.

Bitch: On the mornings I go for a walk, I try to get out early enough to avoid the worst of the high humidity and summer heat. After this past week, I think I’d need to walk at 4 am in order to avoid feeling like I’m inside a plastic bubble with a wet towel tightly wrapped around my entire body. And even then, I’d still feel like I was wrapped in a damp towel.

Even the rabbits are worn out by the high humidity.

Brag: On Wednesday I gave myself a manicure and I feel so fancy now. In the last few years I’ve gotten better at doing French manicures for myself, so when I have the time and my nails are a decent length, it’s my go-to look. (Thanks to YouTube, I learned that one trick for getting the white tips straight is to roll your finger and not move the brush.)

French manicure - ooh la la

Bitch: I had the chance to try the new limited edition Coke flavor, Ultimate. My housemate’s buddy will bring over the newest flavor for us to taste test when he comes to visit (the limited edition flavors typically come in regular and Coke Zero versions). Once again, a hard pass—this flavor was probably the worst of the ones I’ve tried. It tasted like someone wrung out a pack of Juicy Fruit gum into a Coke Zero at 4:45 pm on a Friday.

Please, Coke R&D folks, stop with this nonsense.

Brag: In the baking category, I made another batch of what I call Chaos Cookies (h/t to S2 of “The Bear”, if you know you know). I used my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe from the 1997 edition of the Joy of Cooking, and instead of all semisweet chocolate chips, I used half white chocolate chips, half semisweet, and chopped walnuts. These cookies are amazing and addictive.

Many, many thanks to the folks who sent items from my wish list! The cats and I appreciate your generosity so much.
I’m currently taking on short-term and long-term clients for website review and content writing. I also appreciate any leads on remote jobs in member services or customer relations.
