Exclusive for paid subscribers: the Corinne Channel is a roundup of what I’ve been reading, watching, and listening to over the past week. This list will be included at the end of each Friday Bitch and Brag.
In case you missed an older Friday Bitch & Brag, you can check out the index here.
Let’s circle up, kids!
Bitch: For the life of me I cannot make sense of Kaiser Permanente’s Pharmacy on their website and app. Ordering a prescription refill ends up being way more complex than it should be, whether it’s selecting the payment method or removing an old payment method. Then their system will continue sending notices about errors even after you fix them.
Brag: All the sewists I know have a pile of projects they plan to complete at some point, whether it’s repair work or something new. I’m thrilled that I completed a few over the last week: I sewed two pillowcases and four placemats (they are a gift, so I’m not including a photo). I am in love with these fabrics I found while cleaning out Emily’s parents’ house in March.
Bitch: Back in June, I signed up for two free Blast Courses through AGHI at Johns Hopkins—one on conspiracy theories from ancient Rome to current day, and the other on extinction in cinema—and they are kinda dull. Maybe it’s me; maybe I am not in the headspace to be a student this summer. But listening/watching talking-head video lectures on ancient Rome and existentialism by two very young professors who have yet to work on their presentation skills make me antsy. Make a PowerPoint, guys! Have some fun with it! Sheesh.
Brag: As of this morning I’ve surpassed my last Wordle streak of 25 days: 28 days of getting the answer within 6 guesses or less. My tip: use the first 5-letter word that pops into your head, and not always the same starting word.
Bitch: I got some Shady Brook turkey breakfast sausage to try—turkey sausage/bacon is one of my favorite sources of protein in the morning—and I was disappointed at how bland it is. Considering that the sausage was packaged like the company’s other turkey products in the deli section, I should have figured the sausage would require marinating/seasoning. Turkey, like squash(es) and tofu, needs a lot of help in order to be flavorful. Tonight I’ll combine the turkey sausage with onion, garlic, bell pepper, mushroom and tomato for tossing with shirataki spaghetti and Parmesan.
Brag: On Sunday I set aside old jewelry, storage boxes, office supplies, books, and magazines in very good/excellent condition to regift/donate, and posted a few things on my local Buy Nothing Facebook group—they went pretty fast, so I’m encouraged to gather more items and post them.

I’m still looking for short-term projects and gigs in writing, editing, website review, and e-newsletter development/distribution. Need help or know someone who does? Send them my way.
