Bitch: As you may have guessed from the subtitle, there’s been a major ant invasion in the kitchen this week and even with several Terro traps in place, these damn things still keep coming around. I stupidly left a small chocolate cake on the counter overnight, thinking, “it’s tightly wrapped in foil, they won’t get to it.” WRONG. I sacrificed most of the cake to the damn hormigas.
Brag: I haven’t set the house on fire in an attempt to eradicate the ants. Considering how much I hate ants, this is brag-worthy.
Rooney Update
Rooney is doing well, though he puked this morning and his belly was super gurgly and rumbly. Going to keep an eye on him and contact the vet if this happens a couple more times.
I’ve paused promoting the GoFundMe and PayPal campaigns to raise funds for Rooney’s care for the time being. Next week, I’ll share the links again, as he will need follow-up bloodwork in late August to determine the level of phenobarbital in his system and adjust his dosage as needed.
Bitch: A couple weeks ago I sewed a double zip pouch (same style as this fortune cookie themed one available for purchase, hint hint) and had to rip it all apart to re-do the seams. Yesterday I returned to the project, only to have some seam issues AGAIN—my guess is that it had to do with the fabric types I used. Lesson learned (maybe).
Brag: I finished the small messenger bag I’d been working on for two years. It was nearly done two summers ago, but a glitch with crafting an adjustable strap in addition to moving meant it got set aside. I got some wise advice from a woman in my sewing group and decided to forego the adjustable strap, but I made some weird errors when calculating the proper length and now it’s not a cross-body style anymore. I’m okay with that, though, because this pretty little bag is now DONE!

Bitch: Some semi-unexpected news on Sunday night triggered more anxiety and stress, and since then I’ve had a couple days this week where I woke up feeling extremely anxious, overwhelmed and distressed…
Brag: …but many years ago I had a therapist who gave me a tip on managing anxiety that I call “Three Things.” He advised that when the anxiety is really bad, I make a list of three things I can do that day, and only three things. “Even if the list is getting out of bed, showering, and getting dressed, that counts as your three things,” he said. This advice has helped me innumerable times over the years, and it was a huge help this week, too.
