Exclusive for paid subscribers: the Corinne Channel is a roundup of what I’ve been reading, watching, and listening to over the past week. This list will be included at the end of each Friday Bitch and Brag.
In case you missed an older Friday Bitch & Brag, you can check out the index here.
Let’s circle up, kids!
Bitch: Chewy is great for getting the cats their food and treats, but they barely give you any warning before they process autoship orders. I need at least a week’s notice before you package up the cats’ wet food, Chewy!
Brag: I have a ton of stickers I’ve accrued over the last few years, but I rarely put them on anything other than a notebook. After reading this NY Times article about the effects of Starbucks management’s anti-union behavior on its staff, and the egregious, narcissistic behavior of its founder (I knew they were doing a lot of shady shit, but this article really brought the point home), I decided it was time to cover up the logo on my Starbucks tumbler, my preferred cup for my homemade iced coffees. Now my tumbler sports a Choco Latté logo—one of my favorite chocolate bars from one of my favorite chocolatiers, TCHO.
Bitch: Sacramento Magazine, the regional monthly magazine where I was a freelance writer for 5 years, was bought by its competitor and is shutting down. I am so grateful to the editors I worked with—Krista Minard, Marybeth Bizjak, Darlena McKay—who gave me so many assignments, including a few cover stories, and helped me become a better writer. This magazine will be missed by many folks in NorCal.
Brag: Today marks the one-year anniversary of my move out of Baltimore and to the suburbs. I am so very grateful to my housemate—who I’ll refer to as HM going forward—for opening his door to me and my cats. We all love HM, especially Ippie, who frequently snuggles up with him on the couch while he’s watching TV or on his PlayStation.
Something new is coming to Substack! If you like writing for fun, find out more about Connecting the Nouns and subscribe for free.
Bitch: This week I received emails for three different services I use regarding increased prices. Just because the government says the economy is doing better doesn’t mean MY income has gotten better! Sheesh.
Brag: I continue to work on my stash of sewing projects that are in various stages of completion. Of course new projects will take their place. I have a lot of fabric and an online shop to restock.
And now for this week’s media wrap-up on The Corinne Channel:
