The DNC is done and it’s time for the weekend, whoo! Let’s circle up!

Bitch: This new schedule for work is already making me grumpy. I’ve been trying to put myself to bed before 10 pm every night, and I do wake up at 5, but actually getting up and being productive is very, very hard.

Brag: I got a lovely one-hour nap this afternoon and I feel much better now.

Bonus Item: Momcat and Pops would have been married 60 years today, which makes it a bittersweet day.

Bitch: Yesterday I made salsa, and as I usually do when putting everything in the blender, I go through all the ingredients out loud before hitting that Chop button…but this time I didn’t remember the diced chiles. I’d opened the can but never took it off the electric can opener, and didn’t realize what I’d done until I had already poured out the salsa into a storage container and put the blender parts in the dishwasher. I thought something tasted different. Dammit!

Brag: I made my first-ever Baltimore peach cake, with the help of a recipe I got via email from Kara Mae Harris of Old Line Plate, and it turned out very good. I now feel more comfortable working with yeast, so this means homemade cinnamon rolls are gonna happen this fall. (No, those cinnamon rolls will not have raisins in them. I am not a monster.)

Baltimore peach cake fresh from the oven and a slice. The cake consistency is fluffy and thick, similar to a sweet roll.

Can you help Ippie get vet care?

Just when I thought the cats were doing okay…Ippie started having problems.
Ippie, who turned 16 back on April 1 (her arbitrary birthday) has a poor appetite, she’s spending way more time sleeping/resting on my bed, and she has other behaviors that are out of character for her. I’m worried about my little grey girl.
Are you able to donate $16 to help me get Ippie to the vet? While the GoFundMe or PayPal campaigns are still set up for Rooney, any donations of $16 will be marked for Ippie. I’ll need around $300-400 to cover the initial visit and lab tests.
We’re grateful for any and all help, including shares on your social media. Thank you from me and the pretty princess, aka Ippie.

Bitch: I spent most of this week feeling anxious about this new substitute teaching job, as on Sunday I learned I’d be reporting to the school today for some initial orientation & training…

Brag: …and I got to the school this morning and everyone was so kind & friendly. But the part that nearly had me in tears (and I’m tearing up as I write this) was when the assistant principal introduced me in the all-staff meeting and a room full of teachers cheered & applauded, and several said to me, “thank you for being here.” Coming out of 15 years of self-employment, which can be very lonely and thankless at times, I am so touched by their warmth and support.

This week on The Corinne Channel: locally made treats, a memoir about loss, love & karaoke, and more!
