Exclusive for paid subscribers: the Corinne Channel is a roundup of what I’ve been reading, watching, and listening to over the past week. This list will be included at the end of each Friday Bitch and Brag.

A rough week for me, so I am late once again. Gather round, kiddies!
Bitch: Momcat would have been 81 on Monday. Between that and other losses this year, and November also being the birth month for several women in my life who I considered to be bonus moms (Emily’s mom, Rimi’s mom, and Deena’s mom), this week was tinged by grief.
Brag: I recently had a two-hour video chat with Emily and it was so good to see her and talk about everything that’s been going on in our lives. If anyone wants to gift me a plane ticket to visit her in Europe, please do.
Bonus Item: Pops and Mari dropped off Thanksgiving leftovers from their dinner at Mari’s friend’s place. I made myself a plate on Saturday afternoon and while at first I was confused by the sides individually wrapped in foil, it made reheating easier as I put the turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and green bean casserole on a sheet pan and heated them in the oven at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes. The turkey got a bit dry as a result but it was still good, and the other sides were yummy. The cranberry sauce was fantastic on the turkey and always makes me more willing to eat less than perfect turkey. (Yes, I love cranberry sauce right on top of turkey, don’t judge me.)

Bitch: I made one of my favorite soups last week, a hearty vegetable soup with big chunks of mushroom and tomato and a rich, savory broth…but I used way too much onion and that flavor is overpowering everything and giving me issues that I will not discuss here.
Brag: After seeing so many posts ads about Olive & June nail polish and manicure systems, I bought a bottle of their Quick Dry polish in Poodle, a soft neutral beige-pink, and I gotta say I’m pretty impressed. No photos to show at this point, but I’ll share some the next time I do my nails.

Bitch: My fasting bloodwork last week showed that my cholesterol went up way too much, which infuriated me because my lifestyle didn’t radically change in the last year. Then I did some research and discovered that Effexor has been shown to elevate cholesterol in 8% of patients. OH HELL NO. I’ll be talking to my doctor in the coming week, because I already wanted to get off this drug and this news seals the deal.
Brag: In recent weeks, I made bar cookies with leftover Halloween chocolate candy and what I had left of some peanut butter morsels. For the candy pieces, I cut up Hershey’s chocolate mini bars, Snickers Fun Size bars, and a couple Snickers Peanut Butter Bites. Very good and decadent, but not ridiculously rich or sweet.
And now for the weekly media wrap-up on The Corinne Channel: watching the detectives, Bond binges, WWII espionage, and more!
