Winter break has begun—nearly two weeks of no school, which means blissfully quiet mornings and not having to yell PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY or SIT DOWN multiple times in a day. I’ve been so relieved to have an extended break that this B&B is two days late. Gather ‘round, folks!
Bitch: Due to some design/construction flaws I couldn’t release a new product at Busy Birdies Studio and I’m unsure how to fix the issues…
Brag: …but I did manage to get other new items in the online shop before the end of the week. A colleague at Wagstaff made a big purchase for holiday gift giving, including several items that had been in stock for a long time. She told me how much she loves to support small businesses and that did my heart good.

Bitch: Some administrator decided it was a great idea to schedule all-day department meetings the week before winter break, which made for crazy scheduling issues. Combined with teachers being out due to cold/flu and antsy kids, it made for a wacky week.
Brag: Because of the scheduling issues, there were a few days I wound up with way more free time—a welcome counterbalance for all the wackiness.

Bitch: I didn’t get a single holiday card or gift from anyone at school. Maybe I shouldn’t expect anything like that, considering how so very few resources are provided to the daily building subs…
Brag: …but I did get some tasty goodies from the PTA coffee cart on Thursday, words of kindness and support from various teachers & staff, and an unexpected present from my neighbor Rosie: a cute cat-themed mug with peppermint stirrers inside. This is really all I need.
