I had so much fun putting together my 2023 list that I am doing one for 2024. This year, I’m focusing mostly on locally produced consumables, with many companies owned by BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and others.
My Favorite Things for 2024
Kesh & Fresh Harrissa Aioli ($10)
This company had a small table at the Greenbelt Farmers Market/Holiday Market on December 8, and after trying all three of their Moroccan dips/spreads, I bought them. The harrissa aioli has a hint of heat and makes a delicious sandwich spread or addition to a charcuterie board.
I have shared videos in the past of me trying Moore Crunch Pretzels. These are so full of flavor and crunchy goodness, whether it’s the Garlic Ranch or Cinnamon Sugar pretzels. I’ve heard the other flavors are just as yummy, and Marcus now offers a Crunch Sampler for $20.
Magnolia’s Candles and Soap Ginger & Shea Body Butter ($12.99)
I met Magnolia at the Greenbelt Farmers Market and when I wanted some new body butter, I decided to shop small and got some of her Ginger & Shea Body Butter, which goes on smooth and with a hint of ginger scent that fades away, making it ideal for anytime of day.
Mess in a Bottle Apparel
I’ve been following Mess in a Bottle for a few years online, loving the messages (or mess) on the shirts, hoodies, and other apparel owner Kalilah Wright creates. I finally got one of her t-shirts and absolutely love it. Her messages range from funny to activist to feminist.
It’s been several years since I first tried this aromatic, delicious herbal tea made with cocoa, lavender, peppermint and vanilla, and it’s become my all-time favorite from Stash. I buy this tea in bulk, it’s that good, and a couple tea bags make a fun little addition to letters or gifts.
What are your favorite consumables to give this year?
I'm going to give as gifts some amazing chocolates that a friend makes from scratch with her Costa Rican organic cacao plus different flavors. I can't eat chocolate and expect to sleep, but I've had some in the past and hope to surprise a few people. She doesn't have a website so I can't share her goodies.
